Bio

Kevin J. Cope is a graduate of the University of Delaware having received a Master's degree in classical guitar performance and a Master's degree in music composition. Kevin has studied guitar with Matthew Slotkin (Bloomsburg University) and Christiaan Taggart (University of Delaware). Kevin began his compositional studies with Dr. Patrick Long at Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania and continued his education at the University of Delaware where he studied with Dr. Andrew Bleckner and Dr. Jennifer Barker (University of Delaware). He has had commissions from a variety of ensembles including the University of Delaware Guitar Ensemble, the University of Delaware Horn Ensemble, the University of Delaware Graduate Woodwind Quintet, and several works for guitar or solo instrument with guitar, or solo instrument/voice with piano accompaniment.

Stylistically, Kevin's compositions are a blend of Eastern and Western influences. Quite often his works utilize Eastern modes to create a unique tonal sense while remaining far from standard practice tonality. Western influences ranging from jazz, rock, avant-garde classical, and standard classical repertoire assist with his unique form of composition.

Kevin is available for hire for weddings and parties. Available styles range from classical and Latin to arrangements of popular songs for classical guitar.
