The Wilmington Classical Guitar Society is pleased to present Baltimore guitarist Jeremy Lyons in his third WCGS appearance! Join us at West Chester University Friday, October 30 where Jeremy will perform a captivating program of classical guitar music, featuring works by Giuliani, Weiss, Bach, Rodrigo, and Tansman.

Guest opening artist: Dulcet Guitar Duo (Caroline Kubach and Alex Pollock)

A reception featuring MyHouse Cookies will follow the concert.

NOTE: Join us again on the following day, Saturday, October 31 at 2:00 pm in Swope Music Building Rm. 141 for a master class with Jeremy Lyons featuring performers from the West Chester guitar program. This class is also free and open to the public.

Bio:
A native of West Chester, Pennsylvania, Jeremy Lyons began studying the classical guitar at a young age with his father Glenn Lyons, who is the professor of classical guitar at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. Along with the guitar, Jeremy studied the cello growing up with Ovidiu Marinescu, who is a professor of cello and orchestral conductor at West Chester University of Pennsylvania.

Jeremy received a BM in guitar performance (Summa Cum Laude) from the Florida State University, where he studied with Bruce Holzman, and holds an MM in Guitar Performance and Pedagogy from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, where he studied with Manuel Barrueco. In May of 2015 Jeremy received a second masters degree in Musicology and completed his DMA at the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University where he studied with Manuel Barrueco.

In addition to solo concerts, Jeremy has performed with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Marin Alsop, the Warminster symphony orchestra, and the Tallahassee symphony orchestra. Jeremy also performs on viola da gamba, lute, and Baroque guitar with The Peabody Renaissance Ensemble under the direction of Mark Cudek, and he regularly performs with his duo partner Soprano, Lisa Perry. While maintaining an active performing career, Jeremy is the current guitar instructor at Artist music education center in Perry Hall Maryland and teaches guitar at the Levine School of Music in Washington D.C.
