Artist Bio:
Guitarist Adam Larison has received enthusiastic responses from audiences across the U.S. and abroad for his spirited expressivity, technical virtuosity, and unique ability to connect with diverse audiences. Adam’s passion for exploring the guitar repertoire has led to a distinctive program, which includes not only enduring classics for the guitar, but also provocative, lesser known musical gems and newly commissioned works from young composers.

Adam has appeared in concert as a soloist for audiences across the U.S. and abroad, including in the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, San Francisco’s “Guitarrada,” the New Mexico International Guitar Festival, the Louisville International Guitar Festival, Guitar Sarasota, and the South Georgia Ballet. As well as enjoying an active solo career, Adam has performed across the United States and the United Kingdom with fellow guitarist Andrew Stroud as a member of Duo 220, appearing in The Corsham Arts Festival (UK), the Seven Hills Concert Series (Tallahassee, FL), and in venues including the Sierra Nevada Guitar Society (Reno, NV) and Westminster University (London, UK). Adam was awarded First Prize and the Audience Prize at the 2013 Great Lakes Guitar Competition, Second Prize at the 2013 Hamilton International Guitar Competition (Canada), and recieved top prizes in the D’Addario International Guitar Competition and the Boston Guitarfest Competition.

Adam began studying guitar with Louis Critchfield, and with John Truitt and Mickey Jones at the Albuquerque Academy. He earned a B.M. in guitar performance under Bruce Holzman at Florida State University, a M.M. in guitar performance under Sérgio Assad at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and a Performer’s Certificate from the Accademia Musicale Chigiana (Siena, Italy) where he studied under Oscar Ghiglia. He is currently a doctoral candidate at the Eastman School of Music studying under Nicholas Goluses.
